RLHS prides itself on our strong House competition. Each year students start the year with two full-school events: Athletics Day and Swimming Sports. These days give students a chance to gain points for their house, in either competitive or participatory ways.
Throughout Term Two students have the chance to compete in lunchtime sports challenges (Volleyball, Basketball, Netball, Football etc) which are then tallied to increase overall house points, this gives students a chance to show their skills in front of their peers during lunchtimes. Also, in Term Two is our much-anticipated Haka competition. Each year, former students and community representatives are invited to judge our full school haka competition with much mana on the line for this one!
Other house activities we host later in the year include Interhouse Day (competitions which include computer gaming, quizzes, and less traditional sports like ki-o-rahi and handball), Spirit Day (with a house coloured dress up competition and activities), Top Town (summer time fun with dunk tank, bubble soccer, etc). House points are also awarded to houses that perform well at Yr13 and Yr10 camps throughout the year.
